With Earth Day coming up on April 22, 2026, Bloomfield Township is looking to support environmental protection and take a hands-on role in promoting civic pride. The weekend of April 25 and 26, 2026 sees the triumphant return of Operation Clean Sweep.

This distinct weekend is designated for residents to volunteer some time and effort to help keep the appearance of our roadways and subdivisions. Specifically, Operation Clean Sweep plays a role in addressing the debris from safety paths and roadways that has been deposited during the recent winter season. The Department of Public Works is handing out supplies to assist in the effort.

If you’re interested in participating, please Sign Up Online no later than April 21, 2026. DPW will provide bags and trash supplies to residents during normal business hours, Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. beginning April 13, 2026. Residents will be able to pick up supplies at the Public Works building at 4200 Telegraph Road (just west of Township Hall).

You can learn more at Beautiful Bloomfield. If you have any questions, please contact DPW via 248-594-2800 or Road@bloomfieldtwpmi.gov.

“We’re excited for the return of this initiative and hope residents take time to volunteer for the community,” said DPW Manager Adam Roose.  “It’s very common this time of year to see the accumulated litter from the winter season spread along our roadways.”

The Township would like to encourage all community members to participate. All trash and compost will be picked up by Priority Waste at the normally scheduled collection time for each cleanup location.

Bloomfield Township Department of Public Works (DPW) comprises several divisions. These are the Road Division, Water & Sewer Division, Grounds Division, Building Maintenance, Motor Pool and Administration. The DPW is responsible for many of the Township’s essential operations such as road maintenance, winter snow plowing, water and sewer services, grounds and building maintenance, vehicle maintenance, water and sewer billing, customer service and oversight of the solid waste contract.
