BTSS Medical Transportation Policies & Procedures
Transportation may be provided for medical and dental appointments, life-sustaining situations, physical therapy, dialysis, radiation treatment. Clients must be Bloomfield Township or Bloomfield Hills Residents 60+, and residents 50 -59 if handicapped, (written confirmation from licensed physician required) and are required to have an application on file at BTSS with proof of residency prior to making transportation arrangements.
Eligibility
Service is limited to those who have a medical condition or illness that makes driving unsafe or impossible and no other driver is available. Primary consideration will be given to individuals receiving life-sustaining therapies. Please be prepared to provide documentation in support of medical need for service upon request.
Hours of Operation
Medical Transportation is available Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.
Transportation service is not available for Saturday, Sunday or Holidays.
Reservations and Cancellations
Transportation for Medical appointments is arranged with a minimum of 5 days prior notice.
Cancellations are to be made a minimum of 2 hours in advance.

Wheelchair Transportation
Wheelchair transportation to and from the Senior Center is available upon request.
Wheelchair transportation to medical appointments is available on a limited basis for additional fees.
Fees
Clients are responsible for a 45% co-payment for all rides. No money is exchanged with drivers. Clients will be billed monthly for co-payment. You may qualify for financial aid. There are no fees associated with transportation to BTSS or when using volunteer drivers.
Wait time, short notice cancellations and no-show charges will be billed to client 100%. Clients may not ask driver for additional stops or any change in location from what was scheduled through BTSS.
